Good to know
A traditional stay
The Silva Heritage Resort showcases a delightfully traditional Goan home, dating back to the 16th century. The property has been lovingly restored by the owners over a number of years and it retains many of its original features.
Upon arrival you are met with a stunning tiled mural, depicting Vaco de Gama on his arrival in Goa. Traditional tiles are featured throughout, and you will notice them in areas on the way to the games and spa rooms. Admire the original artefacts displayed in corridors and public areas as you absorb the tranquillity of this special property.
The property is based around a central courtyard where the women within the extended families would gather, a tradition which is still practiced by some families.
A charming and luxurious hotel
You will enjoy an intimate and luxurious experience. All rooms are charmingly named after Portuguese families and are furnished with typical wooden pieces. The light and airy rooms offer a high level of comfort, with all the modern amenities you would expect from a luxury holiday. Many rooms have views through the beautiful ornate shutters, across the gardens and good-sized swimming pool beyond.
Enjoy tradition combined with relaxation
Tradition continues with daily activities carried out by local artisans, and a Feni distillery can be found in the gardens where, for a local charge, you can learn about how to make this liqueur from cashew nuts and of course, taste it! If you wish to indulge, there are two treatment rooms for a relaxing spa treatment or for the more active, bicycles are available for hire so you can explore the sleepy surrounding area.
A traditional Goan restaurant can be found on site which is sure to tempt you with its selection of mouthwatering dishes which are inspired by both Indian and Portuguese cuisine. Fish and seafood are a big feature of the menu as many Goan people base their diet on these. A traditional Portuguese tavern can also be found in the gardens for a pre- or post-dinner drink.
A stay at Silva Heritage Resort would be a fantastic choice for those looking for a peaceful holiday offering a luxurious yet traditional experience. It would also work perfectly as part of a tailor-made visit to Goa.
