Birdwatching in Goa

Explore the beautiful birdlife in Goa - which species will you discover?

Found in Goa’s deep south along the Goa/Karnataka border, Cotiago Wildlife Sanctuary is Goa’s second largest sanctuary, home to a multi-storeyed forest boasting rare plants and exotic fauna. Its position means that it’s relatively unknown, so birding and nature walks that are conducted here are very private. Boasting treetop perches, a nature interpretation centre and hiking trails amongst the 30m trees, it’s a must-see for keen bird and wildlife enthusiasts.

Guests can expect to see species such as:

  • Orange minivets
  • Grey Fronted Green Pigeons
  • Malabar Grey Hornbills
  • Racket-Tailed Drongos
  • Malabar Trogon (if you’re lucky)

Other residents of the sanctuary include the slender loris, flying squirrel, golden-back gliding snake and Malabar tree toad, so keep your eyes peeled.
