Golden Triangle

Delve into the history, culture and beauty of the Golden Triangle, encompassing some of India's most incredible locations, landmarks and atmospheres; a truly fascinating tour in the north of the country.

Day 1

On arrival into New Delhi, you'll be transferred to your hotel and can check in for the night.

Day 2

The first half of your day will be at your leisure.

After lunch, your Golden Triangle tour will begin with a half day exploration of Old Delhi. After a visit to Raj Ghat, a simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, you will drive past the magnificent Red Fort, before continuing to Jama Masjid, one of Asia's largest mosques. After absorbing the grandeur of the mosque, you'll enjoy an atmospheric rickshaw ride amid the hustle and bustle of the narrow streets and alleyways of Old Delhi - the perfect way to absorb the day to day activities of the city.

Your tour of Delhi will continue in the shape of a visit to Qutb Minar, a stunning structure which is recognised as one of the tallest stone towers in India and is currently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After learning about the history of the tower, you will then be transported to Humayun's Tomb, an incredible complex built by the widow of the second Mughal  Emperor, Humayun, considered a precursor of the Taj Mahal.

On the drive back towards your hotel, you will catch a glimpse of the buildings and landmarks of New Delhi, including India Gate, the Parliament Building, and the President's residence. Finally, you will pay a visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, the most sacred temple for Sikhs in the whole of the country. After visiting the temple, you'll return to your hotel to relax and enjoy your second overnight stay.

Day 3

After starting the day with breakfast at your hotel, you will check out and enjoy a drive to Jaipur to the south-west of Delhi. Upon arrival in Jaipur you will check into your hotel before proceeding to Birla Temple; a beautiful Hindu temple. After your visit here, you will return to your hotel for the night.

Day 4

After breakfast at your hotel in Jaipur, you will be driven a few kilometres out of the city to the ancient capital of Amber and the famous Amber Fort. During the journey, you'll first stop to admire the beautiful Palace of Winds, or Hawa Mahal, one of the city's most recognisable buildings in Jaipur. The fort is one of the most impressive in the whole of India, built in the 17th century, it is a maze of courtyards, halls and stairways. There is incredible decoration found throughout the complex, with impressive paintings, carved doorways and precious stones adorning the fort. 

Once you've got your fill of Amber Fort, you'll head back into the city to continue your tour, stopping at the City Palace with its beautiful gardens and courtyards. The palace's museum is a very interesting complex to explore, housing rare manuscripts, armoury, costumes and paintings to name but a few. Adjacent to the City Palace is the fascinating Jantar Mantar, a very old astronomical observatory using intriguing tools and machines which together have been listed as one of the five astronomical wonders built by Sawai Jai Singh.

After your visit to Jantar Mantar, you'll have an opportunity to walk around the local markets and absorb the hustle and bustle of daily life in Jaipur, before heading back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5

After an early start for breakfast, you will begin the drive to Agra, stopping first at Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted red sandstone city. The city was built by Mughal Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the late 16th century but has been left abandoned for over 300 years. Its buildings are today in fantastic condition and it is a very interesting place to wander for an hour or two. After reaching Agra, you will check into your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 6

The morning of your sixth day will consist of an unforgettable experience visiting one of the true wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. Taking 22 years and 20,000 men to build, the Taj Mahal is undoubtedly one of the world's most beautiful buildings and landmarks, and deserves a place on any holidaymaker's bucket list. You will be given the entire morning to absorb the majesty of the Taj Mahal, before heading off to explore the rest of Agra's attractions in the afternoon. These include Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and you'll also have the chance to visit a marble factory. After your day's exploration, you'll return to your hotel for your final overnight stay.

Day 7

After an early breakfast you will depart Agra for an overland journey to Delhi and an eventual transfer to the airport for your flight back to Goa.
