Candolim is a popular resort with British holidaymakers, no doubt because of its wonderful beachside location, but also because of the excellent food on offer in the area, including the colourful beach shacks that line the coast.

Bomra's
Cuisine: Burmese
Location: 247 Fort Aguada Road, Candolim

Open for lunch and dinner, closed between 3pm and 7pm
This open-air restaurant, brought to you by Burmese Chef Bawmra Jap, serves excellent Burmese cuisine with a modern twist, showcasing influences from China, India, Laos and Thailand. The menu includes many fish and meat dishes, with a few vegetarian options. Expect great food, friendly service, and a good atmosphere amongst the palm-thatched huts in a courtyard garden. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it.
Tuscany Garden
Cuisine: Italian
Location: Fort Aguada Road, Nr Kingfisher Villa, Candolim

Open from 4pm to 11pm Monday to Friday, 1pm to 11pm Saturday and Sunday.
Serving home-made authentic Italian cuisine with imported wines, this award-winning trattoria is the perfect place if you crave pasta, pizza or risotto. Expect checked tablecloths, candlelight, wonderful food and a cosy atmosphere, also in a courtyard garden.
Viva Goa
Cuisine: Goan, seafood
Location: Calangute-Candolim Road, Pune, Candolim
Open for lunch and dinner, closed between 3.30pm and 7pm, closed Mondays
The perfect place to eat if you’re on a budget. It’s popular with locals as well as the relatively few tourists who have discovered this little gem. Expect good, inexpensive Goan food in an unpretentious setting.
Calamari
Cuisine: Goan, seafood
Location: Dando Beach, Candolim
Open from 11am to 11pm
One of our favourite beach shacks in Candolim is run by Santana Beach Resort. It serves many Goan favourites and delicious seafood on its extensive menu. Expect a relaxed atmosphere, great food and live music most days. It’s the perfect spot for an evening meal, watching the sunset with your toes in the sand.

Café Chocolatti
Cuisine: Café, European
Location: 409A Fort Aguada Rd, Candolim
Open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea
This peaceful retreat is the ideal place to escape to, be it for a breakfast of akuri on toast, lunch of paninis or quiches, or a sweet afternoon treat of crêpes, waffles or chocolate truffles, all made by their in-house chocolatier. Expect good, fresh home-made food and great coffee, in a garden setting.
A must for chocoholics!
