Blog > Our favourite hotels in Candolim, North Goa

One of the most popular Goan resorts with British holiday-makers, Candolim is a beach lover’s paradise with its lovely long stretch of soft golden sand.

Excitingly, last year, Candolim Beach was voted as one of the Top 25 Beaches in India in TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Awards. What’s more, it has a friendly atmosphere and plenty of colourful beach shacks – the perfect place to relax on a sunlounger with a cool Kingfisher beer in hand.

Here are a few of our favourite hotels in this charming resort.

Santana Beach Resort

Surrounded by palm trees and lush green gardens, the pretty Portuguese style blue and white bungalows of Santana Beach Resort are a popular choice.

As well as having two swimming pools, it is right by the golden sands of Candolim Beach along with the hotel’s beach shack, Calamari, serving succulent seafood and tasty Goan dishes. Live music is often a feature here, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. There are plenty of sunloungers too – a great place to kick back and relax.

Santana Beach Resort also benefits from being just a short stroll from further restaurants, as well as shops and bars, and it is within easy reach of key attractions such as Old Goa and the spice plantations of Ponda.

Sonesta Inns

Clustered around a beautiful free-form swimming pool shaded by tall palm trees, the spacious rooms of Sonesta Inns are bright, comfortable and well equipped. A short walk through the mature flower-filled gardens brings you to the sands of Candolim Beach and the colourful collection of beach shacks that line the longest stretch of beach in north Goa.

While the delights of the lively town of Candolim are within easy reach, Sonesta Inns is set in a residential area, making it an ideal choice for those seeking peace and tranquillity. It’s a great place to relax by the pool with the sound of birds singing and a gentle breeze rustling in the palm trees.

As well as a bar in the gardens and a coffee shop serving tasty snacks, the hotel’s restaurant serves excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner but don’t forget that the beach shacks and restaurants of Candolim are close at hand when you fancy a change of scene.

Country Inn & Suites

Located in the heart of Candolim, Country Inn & Suites offer easy access to the lively beach and colourful village, whilst enjoying a peaceful setting. It’s the perfect place to unwind yet is within easy reach of the local restaurants, bars and beach shacks for when you fancy a livelier atmosphere.

We particularly love the Deluxe rooms overlooking the courtyard garden with its manicured lawns and inviting pool area.

Another bonus here is the range of board options available. The hotel’s restaurant, Mosaic, offers half board, full board and all-inclusive dining options as well as bed & breakfast. With so many great restaurants on your doorstep, the latter would be our first choice but it’s great that they offer a full range of options.

Another hotel popular with British holiday-makers is the Phoenix Park Inn, which is also centrally located in the town and just 800m from the beach.
