Looking for a family holiday that's slightly further afield and offers some once in a lifetime opportunities? Goa could be the perfect destination...

A place where fantastic hotels and beautiful palm-backed beaches can be found in abundance, Goa is immediately a beach lover's paradise. Although this exotic destination may initially catch your attention as perfect for a honeymoon or holiday for two, if you dig a little deeper you'll find that it's also great for families (and you don’t need to spend a small fortune to enjoy a holiday in Goa either).

With its Portuguese and Indian heritage, the European influence within the state and the fact that it's the richest in India, Goa essentially offers a soft introduction to holidaying in India. You can also enjoy different experiences depending on what part of Goa you choose to visit. The vibrant and bustling north of Goa is a busier alternative to the laid-back south, however the beaches you’ll find in both regions are fantastic. You’ve also got the central region which is ideal if your family love to soak up local culture and heritage. With lots of different resort areas to choose from in all three of Goa’s regions, whether you want a relaxing family holiday or an adventurous one, there’s something to suit your family.

We’re conscious that the question of price is a large factor when choosing your holiday, so we’ve put together three of our favourite hotels for families, one from our Value Collection, one from our Mid-Range and one from our Luxury Collection, so you can investigate accordingly. Plus, it’s worth remembering that we offer child discounts on many of our hotels (including the below), if the price of your holiday isn’t already discounted.

Marinha Dourada | Arpora | From £796pp

Set beside two lakes and surrounded by lush coconut palms, Marinha Dourada is a simple hotel, but there’s plenty to do both inside and locally to keep you occupied. The hotel’s main features are its two pools, children’s pool, restaurant and two bars (among others), but you can also hire row boats, pedalos and fishing equipment to make the most of the fantastic lakes on your doorstep. You’re close to Arpora and its Saturday Night Market - a fantastic experience filled with food, music and souvenirs, or you can hop in a taxi for 10 minutes and explore the bustling beach resort of Calangute.

Caravela Beach Resort | Varca | From £1089pp

If you love lots of facilities for both adults and children, and a beach on the doorstep which is arguably one of Goa’s best, then look no further than the Caravela Beach Resort. With a relaxing spa and yoga sessions for the adults, there’s also tennis, golf, snooker and table tennis for the whole family, and a kids’ club too. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a pool, four restaurants, three bars, and of course, a fantastic stretch of pure white sand where you can build sandcastles until your heart’s content.

Park Hyatt Goa Resort & Spa | Arossim | From £1380pp

If you’re looking to splash out a little more for your family holiday, the Park Hyatt is a great choice. You’ve got the white sands of Arossim Beach on your doorstep, where there’s also a fantastic beach shack restaurant called Zeebops. If you want to go for a wander, you can hop in a taxi and explore laid-back local villages such as Betalbatim, but you may find it hard to tear yourself away from the hotel itself. A large, three-tiered pool, seven restaurants and bars, a spa, tennis courts, cinema room, cooking classes and kids’ club are just a handful of the facilities here, many of which are perfect for the whole family.

If a family holiday to Goa sounds tempting, you can visit our family holidays page, or give our reservations team a call on 01489 866986 who are more than happy to help craft your perfect family escape.

Please note that the prices are subject to change.
