Blog > Top 5 South Goa beaches

Although extraordinary beaches can be found across the entire state, South Goa holds some true coastal beauties. Here are 5 of the best beaches in South Goa to visit on your holiday.

If a laid-back beach experience is what you’re craving, then look no further than a holiday in South Goa. Offering quieter alternatives to its more vibrant neighbours in the north of the state, the beaches in South Goa are sure to tempt you into enjoying a holiday to Goa in this region.

To give you a flavour of what you can expect from Goa’s beautiful southern sands, here’s a roundup of our top 5 South Goa beaches.

Top 5 beaches in South Goa

Cola beach

Perhaps one of South Goa’s most naturally stunning beaches, Cola Beach is blessed with golden-brown sand, and backed with a thick assembly of tall, plush coconut palms.

This beach in South Goa is particularly idyllic due to its lack of colourful beach shacks, so is perfect for anyone wanting to completely escape and make the most of Goa’s natural coastal beauty.

If this sounds like your kind of beach, why not embark on our Maharaja Night overnight excursion to make the most of this outstanding setting?

Arossim Beach

Boasting a long stretch of white sand, backed by palms and a scattering of beach shack restaurants and shops, Arossim Beach is perfect for anyone looking to relax in peace and quiet, but still have somewhere close by to enjoy a refreshing beer or spot of lunch. Water sports are also available when you need a break from lazing on the sand, such as sailing and windsurfing.

Tempted by this South Goa beach? Visit the ITC Grand Goa for a luxury break directly along Arossim Beach.

Majorda Beach

With 25km of soft golden sand, you won’t struggle to find a nice quiet spot to lay your towel when visiting Majorda Beach. A small selection of beach shacks offer some tasty Goan food to satisfy your lunchtime hunger pangs, and if you hang around until sunset, you certainly won’t be disappointed.

If you want to base yourself close to Majorda Beach, consider Alila Diwa Goa.

Mobor Beach

Home to Goa’s most luxurious hotel, The Leela, the feel of indulgence you receive at this hotel certainly extends down to the glorious white sands of Mobor Beach. The swaying coconut palms that line the sand add to its tropical appeal, and a particularly relaxing pastime is to get stuck into a good book whilst lazing under the shade of one of the many towering palms.

If you’re feeling slightly more adventurous, take a walk to the end of the peninsular, where you’ll meet the River Sal. Here, you can embark on a boat trip to explore some of the local wildlife.

Palolem Beach

If these beaches seem just a little too quiet, you can enjoy the laid-back vibes of the south mixed with the eclectic north at Palolem Beach.

The sweeping expanse of soft golden sand is again backed by a plush layer of coconut palms, but along the edge of the palms is a fantastic selection of beach shacks, offering everything from tasty Goan food and drink to all kinds of souvenirs. You can also do some kayaking here, helping you make the most of the glistening Arabian waters.

Day 1: Departing Goa for Delhi our representative will meet you in the arrivals area of the airport. They will assist with your private transfer to your Delhi hotel which will be your base for two nights.

Day 2: This morning, you will depart Delhi railway staion to Agra. Once a small village on the banks of the Yamuna, it was transformed by two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and his grandson Shah Jehan into the second capital of the Mughal Empire, Dar-ul-Khilafat, or ‘seat of the Emperor’ in the 16th and 17th century.

Taj Mahal

When you arrive in Agra you will be met by our representative who will introduce you to your guide who will take you to Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays). On the inner walls, jewel-like stones create beautiful designs in white marble. The Mughals perfected the art of embedding semi-precious stones into marble and the Taj is the finest example of this special process called pietra dura. It begins with a marble plate, varying in size. Then jewels are sliced paper thin and embedded in the marble with such precision that the joints are invisible to the naked eye. Continue for a visit to the Agra Fort, a walled city constructed of red stone which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. Construction of the fort was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565, but his son, Jahangir, and grandson, Shah Jahan, later made valuable additions to it.

You will also visit Itmad ud Daula, also known as Baby Taj. This tomb was built in 1622 for Ghiyas Beg, father of Empress Noor-Jahan, the wife of Emperor Jahangir. It is beautifully conceived in white marble, mosaic and lattice and set a precedent as the first Mughal building to be faced with white marble inlaid with contrasting stones.

Later, you will be driven back to Agra Cantt railway station, where you will board your train back to Delhi.

Day 3: After breakfast, proceed for the orientation city tour of Old and New Delhi including a visit of the 17th-century Jama Masjid and enjoy a rickshaw ride through the narrow, winding lanes of colourful and bustling Chandni Chowk. Stop in front of the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort, the Red Fort for a photo opportunity.

Later proceed to New Delhi where you will be taken for a drive past the Presidential Palace, the one-time imperial residence of the British viceroys, the India Gate, a memorial raised in honour of fallen Indian soldiers and a drive along the Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings. You will also visit Qutab Minar, the 12th-century tower of victory built by a slave king and prototype of all minars (towers) in India.

After the tour you will be transferred to Delhi Airport to board your short flight back to Goa.
